The investigation of the level of school culture perception for the managers at the vocational and technical high schools

This investigation was done to assess the school culture levels in multi-dimensions for the managers at the vocational and technical high schools. It is thought that the managers adopted for the school culture makes a huge contribution especially to educational institutions. The investigation was taken place using survey model from quantitative investigation methods. Totally 176 managers; (66 female and 110 male) at the vocational and technical high schools in Kartal, Maltepe, Pendik, Tuzla and Sultanbeyli ,which are in the city of İstanbul, were involved into the survey in the 2014-2015 year of education. The personal information form which was prepared by the researcher and the first 42 items of the school culture scale which has totally 103 items and was prepared to investigate the school culture and team leadership by Kuyumcu (2007), were used as data collection tool. The internal coefficient of consistence (Cronbach Alpha value) of the 42 item-part scale is determined as .876. The frequency, arithmetic mean, percentage, T test, Mann Whitney U, one-way analysis of variance (Anova) and Kruskal Wallis tests were done using SPSS 15.0 software. In the end of the survey, the perception levels of school culture for the managers was recognized that there is no statistically significant difference by sex, utilization situation of circulating capital, seniority and branch. It was seen that the managers gave positive answers to the survey questions about the historical development, the moral values and faith, the stories, customs and traditions, ceremony and heroes/heroines of the school.
