The effect of professional burnout on job satisfaction: An application for five star hotel managements in Antalya

This thesis aims to examine the effect of occupational burnout levels of employees in five-star hotels in Antalya on job satisfaction. The service sector is an increasingly important sector today, and hotel businesses constitute one of the cornerstones of the tourism industry. For this reason, understanding the effect of occupational burnout levels of hotel employees on job satisfaction is of great importance in terms of both the welfare of the employees and the success of the enterprises. In the research part of the study, data were collected with the questionnaire technique, one of the quantitative research methods. The scope of the research consists of employees of 5-star hotels in Antalya province Belek and Lara Kundu hotels region. Two scales, Maslach Burnout scale and job satisfaction scale, were used within the scope of the research. Within the scope of the research, the relationship between demographic information and the scales of the research and the sub-dimensions of the scales was examined by t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Bonferroni. In addition, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analysis were performed. According to the results of the analysis, it was seen that the emotional exhaustion and personal achievement dimensions, which are the sub-dimensions of the Maslach burnout scale, were effective on job satisfaction, and there was no significant difference between the depersonalization dimension and the job satisfaction scale. It is expected that the results obtained will guide the managers and relevant stakeholders to improve the working conditions of the hotel businesses and increase the well-being of the employees.
