Abstract (EN)

Aim: In the thesis study, new hydrogel systems were produced in which sodium acrylate together with methacrylamide monomer is used as an auxiliary monomer and it is aimed to gain different properties with the addition of natural and artificial polymers, hydroxy propyl cellulose and poly(acrylic) acid, respectively. Material and Methods: Hydrogel systems were prepared by free radical polymerization reaction in the presence of N-methylene bis acrylamide, ammonium persulfate/N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine in aqueous solution. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy/Attenuated Total Reflection (FT-IR/ATR) analysis was used for the structural characterization of polymeric samples. The surface porosity of the systems produced were investigated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) method. In order to investigate the liquid absorption indices of hydrogel systems, the diffusion mechanism of hydrogel systems was tried to be explained with the help of the data obtained by applying dynamic swelling tests at different pH, temperature and salt solutions. Equilibrium absorption studies were carried out to determine the dye absorption capacity of hydrogel systems with different compositions. In the absorption studies, Basic Violet 1 (BV1) model was chosen as the dyes. Results and Conclusion: It has been determined that the synthesized hydrogel systems have the swelling index values sensitive to different environments (pH, temperature and ion) with the ability to sorption the selected dye at a high rate.
