Abstract (EN)

In our country vast majority of existing concrete structures does not have the earthquake resistance. Therefore earthquakes that will occur in the future and will affect the residential area, it is necessary to determine the seismic performance of existing buildings in order to reduce earthquake damages. Equivalent Seismic Load Method and Incremental Equivalent Seismic Load Method are widely used in the determination of earthquake performance. Although there are significant differences between the two methods in terms of assessment, Specification for Buildings to be Built in Seismic Zones (DBYBHY 2007) does not have any provision about the choice of this method. The conformity between these two buildings is important in determining the performance of building. In accordance with the performance analysis results projects are prepared to increase the building strength and capacity. In this study, Equivalent Seismic Load Method are used for performance analysis. According to the Equivalent Seismic Load Method results two different reinforcements have proposed for inadequate seismic safety buildings. Analysis results and recommendations for strengthening are compared.
