Investigation of the effect of professional commitment of graduate pilots on their crew resource management skills

This thesis study was conducted to measure the effects of newly graduated pilots' professional commitment on crew resource management skills, which make the greatest contribution to efficient and effective flight operations. The main mass of the research consists of pilots who graduated from the flight school of an airline company operating in Turkey. Data were collected from 107 graduate pilots by questionnaire technique. Within the scope of this thesis, the concept and skills of crew resource management (CRM) in aviation are explained in the first chapter. Moreover, the importance of the human factor (pilot) in terms of aviation and flight operations and the CRM skills that pilots must have in order to perform these operations safely are explained. In order to reveal the direction and extent of the effects of newly graduated pilots' commitment to their profession on their flight Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills, statistical data analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, anova and t-test analysis, the results of the regression analysis and their comments are included. As a result of the analyzes, it is obtained in the study that it emotional commitment, which is one of the sub-components of professional commitment, has a positive and significant effect on Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills, and thus it should be a feature that should be sought in pilots.
