Abstract (EN)

It was determined that MW-treated spruce (Picea) and linden (Tilia cordata) woods were bonded better with varnish, effects increased hydrophobic properties of samples under certain conditions. The higher hydrophobic properties were observed rather than control samples. Although there was no any close relationship observed between the MW parameters and the surface hardness properties, but the MW irridation of woods provided 4-5 units of harder surfaces for both type wood samplesIn all trial conditions of both woods, fruit juice, milk, lemon, ketchup and cola completely changed the surfaces, MW treatment did not have any positive effect. The surface contact angle values of 90s6 to 90s9 for spruce, and 360t12 to 180t3 for linden, were determined. It was also observed that the MW treatment applied before the varnish application resulted in high degree of color durability, for weathered samples compared to the control samples. Wood samples with MW-treated varnish, 4-5 units higher hardness grades were observed compared to the control sample. Both wood samples showed a higher resistance effect against mineral water, olive oil, vinegar, mayonnaise, ethanol and coffee between 1-2 degrees. All spruce wood samples had higher contact angle values between 180s60 and 270s15 than the control sample. Similar contact angle values were observed for linden samples as well. The lowest total color difference was observed in 90P60 sample for spruce wood stored in external atmospheric conditions, the lowest total color changes was observed in 180T45 sample for linden. These values were determined to be significantly lower than the control sample.
