Abstract (EN)
Based on past research on cultural intelligence (CQ), intercultural communication effectiveness and job performance, the current study; it examines the effect of tourism employees' cultural intelligence levels (meta-cognitive, cognitive, motivational and behavioral cultural intelligence) on their job performance (task and contextual performance), as well as the moderating role of intercultural communication effectiveness in this effect. Survey data were collected from 213 boundary unit employees working in four- and five-star hotels in Antalya with the help of the Cultural Intelligence Scale, Intercultural Communication Effectiveness Scale and Job Performance Scale. The relationships between the structures that make up the scales were evaluated with correlation analysis, and the reliability and validity of the measurement model covering the relationships was examined with confirmatory factor analysis in the AMOS 25 package program. The hypotheses of the study were tested with path analysis performed with the help of the same package program. As a result of the analyses, it was found that cultural intelligence sub-dimensions and intercultural communication effectiveness had a significant effect on two dimensions of job performance (job and contextual performance). Additionally, the analyzes determined that intercultural communication effectiveness has a moderating role in the relationships between cultural intelligence and task performance and contextual performance. The findings were transformed into recommendations for managers, practitioners and employees in the context of the tourism sector.
