Study of National Education assemblies in terms of some selected terms

While on one hand The War of Independence progressed, which was done under the command of Great Leader Mustafa Kemal, onthe other hand fundamentals of a new state initiated through revolutions in national education area. For this purpose, Atatürk, played the key role in gathering the National Education Congress and did make opening speech by himself. In the National Education Congress done in 1921 general state of education was discussed. Later Network of Sciences met three times, a series of decisions were made in order to make a new educational progress and the decisions were applied to actions. Since 1939, National Education Assemblies have beengathered regularly in order to discuss issues of education in order to make variety of ranges of the society participate in. National Education Assembly, which gained a legal basis with the law dated 22nd June 1933 and numbered 2287, has done many important innovations as planning of national education, program, curriculum and determining the overall objectives and as a advising organ attempted by educators. National Education Assembly still carries the specialty of being the highest advising organ to the Ministry of National Education. Agenda subjects of the Assembly are discussed in commissions and then the prepared reports are discussed and voted by the general assembly or can be changed. The decisions voted are sent to the Ministry of Education as an advice of the National Education Assembly. Later the Ministry of Education applies some or all of the advices into practice or asks the government for further decisions. For this reason, applications of the decisions made by the National Education Assembly are being realized according to initiatives of the Ministry and the political organ in the power. In the 17 National Education Assemblies done so farlots of decisions leading to national educations have been taken. The decisions of the Assembly were completely or partly put into practice by the government of the time or by following governments. And some of the decisions were not putinto application. By this study, decisions and practices about the selected concepts of this research: secularism, Kemalism, Atatürk's Evolutions and Principles, equality of opportunity in education, religious education, and compulsory education, have been analyzed.
