Durmuş Hocaoğlu's national and political thought as a nationalist intellectual

Durmuş Hocaoğlu who is a nationalist intellectual argues that nationalist thought must include an intellectual and philosophical framework. Hocaoğlu proposes significant thoughts in terms of the state and politics by analyzing the experiences of the past. He argues that the main source which can carry forward Turkey should be obtained through interpreting Western political thought along with the lines of Turkish-Islamic thought. A search for "grand" theory appears in the political thought of Hocaoğlu. The thinker established his search for theory through identifying the problematic concepts related to state theory and updating them. These concepts include the definition of intellectual, nationalism and secularism. For example, the state and political thought cannot be fully understood without understanding Hocaoğlu's redefinition of intellectual or secularism and analyzing the meanings he has attached to that concept. Therefore, he brought solutions to these concepts from a different perspective with the aim of redefining the state and society structure he manifested.
