Abstract (EN)

Flexibility aims to enable buildings to adapt quickly to changing needs and to be sensitive to environmental impacts. In this context, material selection and application techniques play a crucial role. This thesis focuses on building materials limited to glass, concrete, wood, and steel. While emphasizing the contributions of these building materials to flexible architecture, detailed attention is also given to flexible architectural application methods. The primary focus of the thesis is to highlight the effective role of material selection and application techniques in building design. The research was conducted through literature review and case studies. The aesthetics and functionality of glass, the strength and formability of concrete, the naturalness and eco-friendly features of wood, and the high strength and durability of steel collectively enable successful implementation of flexible architectural strategies. Regarding application techniques, flexible facade systems have become an indispensable part of modern building design. Flexible ceiling systems play a significant role in interior design. Flexible floor coverings stand out with their ability to adapt to different usage areas and needs. Flexible roof systems have the ability to adapt to various structural features and environmental factors while providing a versatile usage and environmentally friendly approach to the building. These application techniques enhance the aesthetics and functionality of the space. Material selection and application techniques are critical factors determining the performance of flexible building elements. The use of correct material selection and appropriate application techniques forms the basis of successful architectural design. The materials and application techniques used in implemented projects clearly demonstrate the ability of buildings to adapt to changing user needs and environmental conditions. These projects provide long-lasting, durable, and versatile structures that respond to the requirements of contemporary architecture while ensuring sustainability and environmental sensitivity.
