Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on Mithatcan Öcal's Maschinenangst II composed for orchestra. Prior to a detailed analysis of the work, Öcal's compositional career, the changes in his compositional style over time, the interconnections of his works, some common themes and motives acting as a unifier between his works, the composers he has been influenced by in his formation and in his current compositional thought, the composers influencing "Maschinenangst II", and his self-references to his own works have been examined. Within the scope of the analysis of "Maschinenangst II", the form of the work is analyzed, and a comprehensive analysis of the instrumentation and orchestration techniques (textural contrasts, timbral formations, relationships of the instrumental groups, performance techniques) and compositional techniques is presented. The analysis chapter also includes subchapters offering accounts of influences from traditional musics and from certain works of contemporary composers. Alongside with this analytical study, the author's "Brancusi" for string orchestra is also presented as a master's diploma work.
