Evaluation of wood materials in furniture design: The example of Bursa Inegol furniture companies

Wood, as the oldest building material, is one of the natural building materials that provide the basic needs of human beings such as shelter and protection. As it is a hot and natural material, it is used mostly in interior spaces as it is different from other building materials. Although wood building materials are used in exterior cladding, bearing system, joinery, ceiling-floor coverings, windows and doors, they are mostly used in furniture production and interior finishing materials. It was originally used in building production, wood frame and so on. It has been used for many years for this purpose. However, the use of wood material in the interior and furniture production continued. Today, although the forests have been damaged due to various reasons and their use has been reduced to some extent, wood is still used frequently in different forms. For this reason, composite materials produced from natural wood are used for economic purposes. A new wood material is obtained by using the wood shavings, dust, residual parts in different processes and with the development of technology and the chemicals used. This has a positive effect on the strength of wood. The different types of wood materials obtained are the most commonly used materials in the furniture sector. The material used for this purpose is imported or obtained from domestic wood and continues to be used. production capacity of manufacturers in Turkey wooden furniture industry in İnegöl, data on the amount of product made design, the location of the Turkey imported furniture production while performing materials used and issues are processed furniture, such as the indigenous sector will be examined. In the second part, the historical development of furniture, in the third part the structure of the wood, technological features, tree classification, degradation, repair and protection of the tree are discussed. The state of the fourth part of the furniture sector in Turkey and in the world, the fifth part is examined in Bursa-İnegöl furniture companies and designers with company officials survey was conducted. In this context, Turkey in Bursa-furniture manufacturers in Inegol town researched and through interviews with designers firm of design they are in what position in the market, thanks to exports ratio and design what degree of importance given that surveys and face to face interviews, data were collected. As a result, it has been obtained data on which materials are produced by the firms in their furniture, how much of their materials are used for domestic and how much of them are produced by importing. The importance of firms to design and why they received external design support, although there are design departments, were investigated.
