The analysis of the significance of Muammer Sun in Turkisch music education and of his children songs

This study aims to gather information about the life of Muammer Sun, an influential composer and educator, and his contributions to Turkish music education and to ensure that wider audiences better know him. Another aim of the research is to analyze 50 children's songs composed by Sun and thought to be popular from a technical perspective. The study utilized a qualitative research method, and data related to research questions were obtained through document analysis. The composer's life, his studies in the field of music education and his contributions to music education in Türkiye were analyzed by examining in depth from the source books. From the composer's birth, his education and professional work in music education were chronologically presented and summarized. Additionally, the subject, form, measure count, vocal range, vocal limit, and tonal/key features of the 50 children's songs thought to be popular by Sun were examined. The songs were grouped and presented in a table, with each song's notation and lyrics explained to the reader. Based on the findings, it can be seen that Muammer Sun made significant contributions to Turkish music education and the field of music as an educator and composer, creating numerous works. Regarding the children's songs, it was determined that the songs were written in one-part, two-part, three-part, and four-part forms, predominantly in the 2/4 time signature, with a majority featuring 8-note vocal ranges, and often covered themes of nature, friendship, animals, and games.
