Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the critical thinking tendencies and levels of social workers working in non-governmental organizations in the refugee field. The social work discipline, by its nature, is at a critical point in critical thinking and decision-making, and the relevant competencies of the social workers who practice the profession directly affect the professional interventions. When the literature is examined, no study on the tendencies and levels of social workers working in various institutions in this field has been found at the national or international level. As in all areas of social work, there is a need for critical thinking in the planning developed in the field of refugees. With this study, the critical thinking tendencies of social workers working in non-governmental organizations in the field of refugee and the variables affecting this were determined. The research was limited to the social workers working in the four organizations that employ the most social workers to work in the local refugee field as purposive sampling. In order to reach social workers working in civil society in the refugee field, four non-governmental organizations were determined as clusters. Personal Information Form and Critical Thinking Tendencies Scale developed by Akbıyık in 2002 were applied to 123 social workers serving in this field. By examining the analysis of the scale and its relationship with the variables in the Personal Information Form, the critical thinking tendencies of social workers working in non-governmental organizations in the field of refugee were determined and the relationship of this tendency with other variables was revealed. The workers' critical thinking tendencies are high; It was concluded that critical thinking tendencies differed significantly according to their positions and job descriptions, their fathers' education level and their fields of experience. In-depth findings on the critical thinking dispositions of workers can be obtained through studies that can be done with qualitative or mixed methods.
