Investigation on prevalance of foot diseases in cows on Muş and its districts

Abstract (EN)

2. ABSTRACT In this study, it was intended to investigate the prevalence of food diseases encountered in the cattle of Muş and iis vicinity. In the study, a total of 1638 cattle of different breeds, ages sexes and bpdy weights were used. The examined animals were recorded in the herd registration form and those with food diseases and hoof deformities were photographed and registered in the patient registration forms. During the study, the hygienic conditions 6f the stables and shelters and, care and nursing regimes of the animals form small arid large cattle farms of the region were investigated and the inadequate and incorrect situations were determined. In the field survey, it \Vas found that fhe incidence of foot diseases was 32.39 % in the winter, 40-50 % in the spring, 10.60 % in the summer and 16.51 % in the autumn. It was observed that 28.97 % of the examined animals possessed hoof deformities, 13.70 % foot diseiaşjes, and 57.33 % both hoof deformities and foot diseases. It was seen thaÇ 86.28 % of höof deformities determined during the study was focalized in the hiftd limbs and 13.72 % in the fore limbs» Foot diseases was found 17. 10 % fn the fore limbs, 82.90 % in the hind limbs. It was detected that 3.91 % pf the hoof deformities occurred in the examined cuttle was blunt hoof; 1 1.93 % scissor hoof, 48.76 % pointed hoof, 9.77 % spiral hopf, 19.15 % wide and spread hoof andi 6.49 % separated hooves.As a result of this investigation, 7.46 % of the foot diseases was determined to be interdigital dermatitis, 7.02 % eresio unglae, 6.58 % heel abscess, 7.89 % interdigital hyperplasia, 11.40 % interdigital cellulites, 7.02 % diffuse aseptic pododermatitis, 4.83 % circumscribed pododermatitis, 7.89 % septic pododermatitis, 9.65 % fissured ungulae, 2.19 % coroner pljlegmona, 12.28 % heel and sole bruises, 2.19 % side wall hoof ulcer, 4.83 % digital dermatitis and 8.77 % white line disease. In conclusion, between 2002-2003 the percentage prevalanoe of food disease in the Muş region is 14.16 %. It was concluded that the findings determined and the statistical parameters obtained during this study would make a positive contribution to the improvement of the cattle breeding in the region.
