Evaluation of individual voice education curriculum in department of music education

It is of great importance that the music teacher candidates, who will use their voices continuously during their professional life, can use their voices correctly, well and effective. For this reason, it is considered necessary to prepare the individual voice education course curricula which are considered to have an important contribution to educating the music teacher candidates in a well-equipped manner by taking into consideration the target, content, learning-teaching process and evaluation steps. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the individual voice education course programs of the music education department within the scope of professional music education through instructor opinions. In this context, 15 individual voice education instructors from music education departments were interviewed by using semi-structured interview form. The data obtained from the interview questions were analyzed by Nvivo 12 Qualitative Data Analysis Program and the codes and themes related to each question were obtained. In accordance with the findings, it was found out that individual voice education curricula were not prepared for program development dimensions, the program contents did not meet the program objectives sufficiently, the program objectives could not be achieved completely, the target behaviors were not reached at a sufficient level within the learning-teacher process, changes were made in the program due to reasons such as the student individual differences, professional experience and technical expertise of instructors within the learning-teacher process, inadequacy of field specialists affected the process negatively and the duration of the course is insufficient.
