Semih İrteş with his Naqqash identity (1970-2023)

Semih İrteş, who has produced many works in the Sema Nakışhanesi style in our classical arts in the field of illumination and wall illumination, has undertaken many important projects in his field, and was deemed worthy of the "Living Human Treasures" award of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey in 2015, is one of the most important names in our classical arts. There is not enough research about our artist who is still alive and has trained many students. This biography study, which covers both his life and his art, aims to show his place and importance in our artistic life as a Muzehhib and Kalemkâr. This study aims to bring together Semih İrteş's experiences, perspective, works, practices, sketches and projects as a naqqash in the arts of illumination and wall illumination. In the first stage of the research, Semih İrteş's life, education, stages of his artistic life, starting with his father Sabri İrteş and later Ord. Prof. The art education that continued with Süheyl Ünver, Âzâde Akar, Câhide Keskiner was examined in detail through the questions asked to him. Since he is the first living source, information about his life, art and works and many documents were brought together in this research.
