Abstract (EN)
Nanotechnology, in general sense, is the rearrangement of tiny ( approximately in the dimensions of an atom ) structures to serve as a function in trade. In other words, the processes among materials less than 100 nanometers range, including measurement, machining, modelling and arrangement, are called nanotechnology. The importance of this kind of technology emphasizes the fact that, experiments on atoms and molecules made it possible for physical, chemical or biological structures to develop or reform. Technically, material characteristics and working specialities of instruments in general rely on the medels and theories of traditional processes grater than 100 nanometres. When amounts get smaller than 100 nanometres, those traditional models are not enough. Nano dimensions bring out different physic rules like Quantum, traditional material qualities change and surface structures begin to effect the whole material. In short, a brave new world comes into existance. By this way, the materials caring nanometric characteristics can be controlled and it enables nanometric design. In order to meet the challenges of high technology, micro and nanometric production is a must. Todays technology makes nanometric cutting of discs, telescopes or laser mirrors possible with sensitive positioning and diamond knives. In this thesis study, the subject matter is nano technology and nanometric design. Brief information is given about nanometric cutting, its mechanisms. After pointing out certain simulation methods, researches based on these methods are told in detail. Keywords: Nanotechnology, Nanoscale machining, Monte Carlo, Molecular dynamics
