Research on biotaxonomy, ecology and control of Lobesia botrana (Schiff. and Den. 1775) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) species in Nevşehir province, Ürgüp and surroundings

This study on the biotaxonomy, ecology, and control of the cluster moth, Lobesia botrana (Denis & Schiffermüller) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), was carried out in the vineyard areas of Ulaşlı and Çökek village of Nevşehir Province Ürgüp district in 2021 and 2022. In this study, in order to determine population fluctuation, peak population periods, last adult flight, estimated number of offspring under natural conditions and contamination rate in vineyards, the change in adult population was observed using delta-type monitoring traps at the beginning. The traps were suspended on the identified vines prior to the flowering period and after the temperature reached 12 degrees. The count was done twice a week until the first insect was seen within the trap, and once a week after the first insect was seen. It was observed that the adults of L.botrana started to appear for the first time from the end of April and they were active in nature until the first half of October. After population density was observed, the period of expected control was determined.The required period has been determined as May 15 for 2021 and May 17 for 2022.These dates vary depending on the climate change from year to year, the insect's life cycle and the plant's phenology.
