Abstract (EN)

This study mainly examines dietary fiber intake in individuals with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and healthy individuals. NAFLD is a liver disease caused by hepatic fat accumulation (>5-10% of hepatocytes) independent of excessive alcohol consumption, autoimmune and infectious diseases and, importantly, can lead to cirrhosis and carcinoma in advanced stages. In general, a healthy diet and regular eating habits, whether weight loss or energy restriction, can reduce fat accumulation in hepatocytes and thus protect the individual from cardiometabolic diseases and mortality. Adequate daily intake of dietary fiber plays an important role in many functions of the body, including intestinal health. Adequate dietary fiber balances the gut microbiota and strengthens the mucosal barrier, thus positively affecting the endocrine system, hormone levels, the digestive system, the body's nitrogen balance and organs involved in detoxification, such as the liver. Many studies have shown that regular and adequate intake of fiber helps to reduce the prevalence of obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In the study, total fiber and water soluble fiber intake was significantly higher in the healthy control group without fatty liver disease than in the group with fatty liver disease.
