Abstract (EN)

VI ABSTRACT The main purpose of this study is to evaluate secondary school students' attitudes towards mathematics who are at the practice of transportational and local primary teaching education system. The literature review was made at the beginning of this research. In order to collect data, a mathematics attitude survey was used in this study (Baykul, 1990:9- 13). The first part of this survey is about personal information. Second part contains 30 sentences related with attitudes towards mathematics. This survey used in this research was carried out at the practice of Transportational teaching schools in Kırşehir city center and in the school districts of Kırşehir (Boztepe, Mucur, Çiçekdağı) according to their socio-economic status with 1166 sixth, seventh, and eigth grade students. To analyze data, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program was used on computer. Frequencies and percentages were calculated according to the students'responses to this survey. T-test and One-Way Anova Varyans Analysis techniques were used in order for comparisons. Some of the conclusions from this study showed that there was a significiant reduction in secondary school students' attitudes towards mathematics from grade sixth to eigth at the practice of transportational and local primary teaching. In addition to that, a meaningful relation was found between these students' attitudes towards mathematics and their math success.
