ABSTRACT NURSES PERFORMANCE ABOUT COMPLIANCE WITH INFECTION CONTROL PRECAUTIONS IN ALHILLA CITY HOSPITALS Mohammed Amer Mousa Mousa Master of Nursing Science Health Science Institute Advisor: Assoc.Prof. Özge Çınar Medeni September 2022 Background: Hospital surfaces that have been contaminated play an essential role in the propagation of harmful diseases .Because of the possible threats to the environment and public health that medical waste poses, it is a huge global concern. Aim: To assess nurses' compliance with standard precautions and determine the relationship between nurses' compliance with the standard preventive measure and their demographic characteristics in Al Hail city. Method: A suitable sample consisting of (270) nurses was selected using the appropriate sampling method with G.Power program, and these samples were collected from (3) hospitals. Scale, the Cronbach alpha scale was 0.89. The interview lasted (15-25) minutes. Data collected between 1st February 2022 – 1st May 2022. Results: The study showed that most nurses performed well. Half of the 135 nurses responded by always removing PPE in a designated area, 132–48.9% always disinfecting surfaces and equipment after use, 215 nurses (79.6%) always disposing of used needles after injection. Significantly different between age groups X2 = 9.94, P < 0.05. Nurses' compliance with respect to standard precautions did not differ significantly when disaggregating cases by sex, education level, marital status, total hours of clinical exposure and years of service p > 0.05. Conclusion: The results of the study concluded that most of the nurses have good precautionary standards. The nurses have good practices regarding infection control (person to person) by washing hands before and after patient care and wearing protective gloves. There are significant differences between nurses' compliance with regard to standard precautions and age nurses.
