Abstract (EN)

Sleep has emerged as a concept based on a scientifically open past that has existed since the day humanity existed. It is known that there are many concepts related to sleep; especially psychological concepts are very important in terms of their relationship with sleep. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between sleep rhythm, empathy-sympathy and depression acording to various variables. This study was carried out within the scope of both descriptive and relational survey models. 336 prospective teachers who are continuing their training in Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Education Participated in the study. Demographic questionanaire, Beck Depression Scale, Morningness- Eveningness Sleep Scale and Empathy-Sympathy Scale were applied to th participants. At the end of the study, datas were analyzed using SPSS package program. As a result of the analyzes, it was observed that there was no significant corelation between the score of morningnes-eveningnes and intermadiate sleep with depression and empathy-sympathy scales. It was observed that there was no significant relationship between categorical variables (gender, sporting, future expectation) and sleep types, but there was a significant relationship between sleep types and substance use ( X2(sd=4, n=336) = 14,823, p= ,005<.05) of prospective teachers. As a result, we can say that being eveningnes, morningness or intermediate sleep type is not predicted by many variables and these findings are consistent with previous studies.
