The investigation of the relationship between organizational health and organizational commitment according to teacher perceptions

This study investigates the relationship between organizational health and organizational commitment according to the perceptions of teachers working in secondary schools in Elazig province. The study is in relational screening model. The population of the study consists of 1813 teachers working in 56 secondary schools in Elazig city center in 2016-2017 academic year, and the sample consists of 411 teachers working in 18 secondary schools. As data collection tools, "Organizational Health Scale" (OHS) developed by Hoy, Tarter and Kottkamp (1991) in order to evaluate and describe the organizational health of schools, and "Organizational Commitment Scale" (OCS) developed by Balay (2000) were used. In order to analyze the data obtained from the study, SPSS21 package program was used. For the items that are normally distributed, T-test was used for teachers' gender variable, and one-way analysis of variance was used for school type variable; for the items that are non-normally distributed, Mann Whitney U was used for teachers' gender variable, and Kruskal Wallis H test was used for school type variable. Pearson Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between organizational health and organizational commitment perceptions of teachers, and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis was used to determine how effective the independent variables are in predicting the dependent variables. The test results are interpreted at p≤0.05 error levels. The results obtained from the study reveal that organizational health affects organizational commitment positively and organizational health predicts organizational commitment.
