Investigation of ethnopedagogical factors in teacher education: Kyrgystan sample

The purpose of this study is to investigate the ethnopedagogy education in the teacher education programs in Kyrgyzstan. Because there are some studies and implementations on ethnopedagogical training of teachers in Kyrgyzstan and there is not in Turkey yet, this study was conducted in Kyrgyzstan. Firstly, the studies related to ethnopedagogy education in teacher education were examined and the most important ones were translated from Kyrgyz into Turkish. Besides, the studies about ethnopedagogy were investigated and the scope of the concept of ethnopedagogy was discussed. Qualitative research method was applied in this study. The data was collected through document review and interviews. The researcher stayed in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for 50 days to collect data, documents and to plan and perform the interviews. The interviews were carried out with three instructors who work at the teacher education programs, have researches on ethnopedagogy and lectured the ethnopedagogy lecture and five graduate students who attended the ethnopedagogy lecture before. The data collected via document review and interviews, has been analyzed by content analysis method. As the result of the analysis, information about the ethnopedagogy lecture at Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University teacher education program was revealed and the instructors' opinions about ethnopedagogy education at teacher education programs and the graduate students' opinions about the ethnopedagogy lecture were identified.
