A comparison of 2018 and 2024 social studies curriculum in terms of values education according to teachers' opinions

The main purpose of the social studies course is to raise good citizens who know and use their rights, show love and respect for nature, know their history and the geography of the land they live in. In order to realize this aim, it is necessary to make students comprehend values well. In this study, it was aimed to compare the 2018 and 2024 social studies curricula in terms of values education according to teachers' views. In order to compare the 2018 ans 2024 curricula, document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods, ana a semi- structured interview from was used to obtain teachers' opinions. As a results of the research, it was concluded that the applicability of the 2024 social studies curriculum was low, it was difficult to implement the activities related to values in classes with large class sizes, the values and textbooks included in the 2018 social studies curriculum and the 2024 curriculum were compatible. In terms of the lack of incompatibility between the content of the textbook and values in the program, independence, scientificity, solidarity and equality be added to the social studies curriculum.
