Abstract (EN)

It is a syndrome that occurs in response to a stress sources in the encounters of burnout trials. Teachers, like many people working in the service industry, face burnout time to time. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between teachers' burnout level and cognitive distortions. In the study, the relationship between teachers' burnout and the variables of age, gender, institution, marital status, level of employment, professional seniority, having children, branch and educational status were also examined. For this purpose, a total of 210 teachers, 178 women (84.76%) and 32 men (15.24), were reached and the Personal Information Form, Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educator Form (MTE-EF) and Cognitive Distortion Scale (CDI) were applied to the participants. According to the independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) results, while teachers' burnout differs significantly in terms of gender, marital status, age, branch, institution and professional seniority, it does not differ significantly in terms of educational status and level of employment. According to the results of Pearson Correlation analysis, there is a statistical difference and positive relationship between emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, which are the sub-dimensions of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educator Form (MTE-EF), and self-evaluation, self-blame, helplessness, hopelessness, and seeing the future as dangerous as sub-dimensions of the Cognitive Distortion Scale (CDI). A negative and statistically significant relationship was found between the sub-dimension of personal achievement and all sub-dimensions of the Cognitive Distortion Scale (CDI). According to the results of Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, cognitive distortions were found to predict emotional exhaustion by 21%, depersonalization by 6% and personal achievement by 15%. In addition, it was concluded that hopelessness, which is a sub-dimension of BCS, is a predictor of emotional exhaustion on its own.
