The relation between teachers' organizational trust and organizational commitment (Ümraniye ilçesi örneği)

This research is prepeared in order to determine the level of organizational commitment and confidence of elementary school teachers and to examine the relation of their organizational trust and commitment. For this reason, personal information forms and questionnaires which contain organizational commitment and confidence scales are applied to 306 teachers from ten elementary schools in İstanbul in 2011-2012 academic year.The data gained from the questionnaires has been analyzed by SPSS 17.0 statistical program. To determine the demographic attributes of teachers, percentage and frequency statistics were used. In addition, their levels of organizational commitment and confidence were determined by average and standard deviation statistics. To specify the relation between the teachers' organizational commitment and confidence levels, correlation analysis was used. To test how much their organizational confidence levels were effected from levels of organizational commitment, regression analysis was used.According to the research; the following outcomes were determined. Firstly, the teachers feel highly committed to their organizations and their physical commitment level is higher than cognitive and sentimental levels. Although, the level of their trust to the directors and collegues is high, the level of the organizations trust to the teachers is moderate. When the level of teachers' trust to organization is compared with the level of their trust to the director and collegues, it is lower. Furthermore, there are statistical positive relations between the teachers' organizational and confidence commitment. In other words, if the teachers' trust to their organizations increase, their level of organizational commitment becomes higher.Key Words: Organizational commitment, Trust, Organizational confidence
