Investigation of teachers' perceptions about instructional leadership of school principals

The purpose of this research; to examine teachers 'perceptions of instructional leadership of school principals and to determine whether there is a significant difference between teachers' perceptions of instructional leadership of school principals based on independent variables. In addition, with this study, according to teachers' perceptions, the educational leadership of school principals, determination and sharing of school goals, management of education program and teaching process, evaluation of teaching process and students, support and development of teachers, establishment of regular teaching-learning environment and climate are determined, It is aimed at. This research, using quantitative research methods and techniques, was carried out as a descriptive research in the screening model. The study group of the research consists of 417 teachers working in preschool, primary school, middle school and high school in the central districts of Şanlıurfa. Participants were identified by simple random sampling method. Research data were obtained by applying the instructional leadership scale and personal information form. SPSS 21.0 program was used to analyze the data, and skewness and kurtosis coefficients were used for normality testing of scale scores. In the research, two independent sample t test, ANOVA, LSD post hoc test, Kruskal Wallis H test, Mann Whitney U double comparison tests were used. Confidence interval was 95% (significance level 0.05 p <0.05). According to the research results; In the sub-dimensions of instructional leadership behaviors of school principals, it was found that teacher perception was highly positive. Perception scores did not differ significantly according to the gender, age, marital status and education level of the teachers; It is concluded that perception scores differ according to school type, branch, professional seniority and are generally compatible with the literature except for the branch variable. Suggestions have been developed to improve the teaching leadership of school principals.
