Abstract (EN)

The universe of the study, which examines the relationship between self - esteem and irrational beliefs of mothers who have children in preschool period and their perceptions of accepting - rejecting their children, is composed of mothers who are continuing in state kindergartens in Istanbul. The sample consisted of 262 individuals from the mothers of children in the universe who volunteered to participate in the study. The main assumptions of the study were that the participants had an intellectual level to respond to the scale items directed to them, they gave sincere answers to the items directed, the sample represented the universe, and the scales were sufficient in measuring the desired concepts for the purpose of the research. As a result of the regression analysis performed with the Backward method in the regression analysis, it was found that the sub-dimensions of "irrational beliefs" had a significant effect on the mother-child relationship. As a result of the regression analysis, it was found that the expectations sub-dimension had a positive effect on child relationship at the level of 0.569. One unit increase in perfectionism sub-dimension leads to a decrease of 0.184 in the level of mother-child relationship. 25.6% of the changes in mother-child relationship levels are explained by the sub-dimensions of the irrational beliefs of parents. In addition, there was no significant relationship between perfectionism sub-dimension and mother-child relationship general level non-warm sub-dimension, aggression sub-dimension, neglect dimension and undifferentiated sub-dimension. As a result of the analysis, it was found that Rosenberg Self-Esteem level was negatively correlated with general level of parental irrational beliefs, expectations sub-dimension and perfectionism sub-dimension. While Rosenber's self-esteem level increases, the general level of irrational beliefs of parents, expectations sub-dimension and perfectionism sub-dimension decrease. Keywords: Self-esteem, Irrational beliefs, Acceptance-rejection
