Examination of the relationship between management behaviours of pre-school administrators and their approaches to motivate teachers

The aim of the research was to examine the relationship between the managerial behaviors of preschool education institution administrators and their approaches to motivating teachers. The research was carried out using the correlational model, one of the quantitative research methods. 78 pre-school teachers working in Niğde province formed the sample, with simple random sampling method. The "Managerial Behaviors Scale of School Administrators (Teacher Form)" adapted by Kurun (2019), "Scale for Determining the Approaches of School Principals to Motivate Teachers" developed by Başın (2012), and "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. Due to the normal distribution of the sample, the collected data were analyzed using parametric descriptive analysis methods, correlation analysis and multiple regression techniques. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that the level of use of managerial behaviors by the administrators of pre-school education institutions was high and there was no significant difference according to the variables of gender, professional seniority, educational status and tenure at the school. It was also determined that the pre-school education institution administrators have a high level of approach to motivating teachers and there was no significant difference according to the variables of gender, educational status, and tenure at the school where they were located, while there was a statistically significant difference in favor of teachers with 1-5 years of professional seniority. It was concluded that there was a high level of significant relationship between the managerial behaviors of pre-school education institution administrators and their approaches to motivate teachers. In addition, it was suggested that instructional leadership and managerial leadership were a significant predictor of organizational managerial motivation.
