The investigation of pre-school teachers' attitudes towards art and art activities

In this research,the attitudes of pre-school teachers towards both art and art activities they use in their classes are investigated. The attitudes of pre-school teachers towards art and the relationship between these attitudes and some variables creates the problem of this research. The pattern of the research; the survey technique that is one of the methods of descriptive research based on quantitive approach is used. 171 pre-school teachers working in Trabzon Ministry of Education schools in 2014-2015 education year forms research's working group. In this research, the attitudes of pre-school teachers towards art and art activities scale that is developed by the researcher in order to gather information is used. The result of the research; it comes out that the pre-school teachers working in high schools' pre-school classes have the most attitude value towards art and art activities. When the departments teachers graduated are considered,the ones who graduated from Child Development and Training Department have the most attitude value.Also,the others who graduated from Early Childhood Education Department have the least attitude value. It's obvious that the teachers graduted from Child Development and Training Department have more attitude value towards art activities.To make a comparison,the points of teachers who had an education related with visual arts in order to do art activities are better than the others who do not.No difference between their teaching experience and the attitudes towards art activities is determined.But it is determined that the number of women teachers are more than men.And in the analysis,there is not a meaningful difference between men and women teachers' attitudes towards art activities. There is not a meaningful difference between the types of schools tecahers are working and their attitudes towards art activities.
