Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the sensitivity of preschool teachers working in Ağrı and Isparta provinces to cultural values. The study is a mixed-methods study combining quantitative and qualitative research designs. The quantitative data method used was the survey method, while the qualitative research method was the interview method. The population of the study consists of preschool teachers working in public and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Ağrı and Isparta provinces during the 2024-2025 academic year. The sample consists of 328 preschool teachers selected randomly. In the qualitative dimension of the research, 20 preschool teachers selected from the sample using purposive sampling constitute the study group. The data collection tools used in the research were a Personal Information Form, the Culturally Sensitive Teacher Roles Scale, and a Teacher Interview Form. Descriptive statistics and difference analyses were performed in the analysis of quantitative data. According to the quantitative findings obtained from the research, the sensitivity levels of preschool teachers to cultural valueswere found to be high and very high. The average scores of preschool teachers working in Ağrı are higher than those working in Isparta. It was found that male teachers had higher averages than female teachers. No significant differences were found between the length of service, education level, place of work, classroom practices, and sensitivity to cultural values of preschool teachers in both provinces. Qualitative data were analyzed using the MAXQDA analysis program. Teachers' views on acculturation are shaped around the concepts of respect for differences, cultural promotion, and the continuity of their own culture. According to the qualitative results, preschool teachers working in Ağrı and Isparta actively participate in acculturation processes. A large majority of teachers in both provinces have adopted an integration strategy.
