Abstract (EN)

Disruptive behaviors define as a cluster of symptoms rather than a single symptom. These symptoms include irritability, noncompliance, temper tantrums, and aggression. The DSM chapter on disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders brings together several disorders (such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, İntermittent Explosive Disorder, Pyromania, And Kleptomania) into one single category. Disruptive behaviors can also occur in a wide range of diseases, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Depression, Disruptive Mood Disturbance Disorder, Bipolar Disorder. Disruptive behaviors often appear in early childhood, and it is important to distinguish it from the normative behavior of this period. Although disruptive behaviors are very common in early childhood, the number of studies in this field is limited and there is no scale that measures disruptive behavior in our country in early childhood. In order to fill this gap, we aimed to adapt the scale of multi-dimensional assessment of destructive behaviors (MAP-DB) in children to Turkish and determine its validity and reliability. The sample of the study consisted of 1103 students and their parents who were studying in kindergartens in the 2019-2020 academic year. The study sample composed of volunteer children from 50 kindergartens in 3 central districts of Bursa. In our study, the other instrument used for validation of our scale was the Early Childhood Inventory-4. It was preferred because it measures preschool children's many disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Behavioral Disorder, Depression, and Anxiety Disorders which are associated with disruptive behavior. We evaluated internal consistency and test-retest reliability of the scale and it was observed that the MAP-DB was a reliable scale for Turkish children (Cronbach alpha .983). As a result, an appropriate scale to evaluate disruptive behavior in children MAP-DB in Turkey. In addition, our study provides a reliable scale both for clinicians and researchers who were studying with disruptive behavior in early childhood.
