A Survey between the school psychological counselors personality features and occupational self-efficacy

In this study, also PsychologicalCounselors? personality features and occupational self -efficacy distribution had beenexamined and differences between the personality features and occupational self-efficacy had been studied by looking at the variables of sex, graduation level,graduation field and the school level they work.This research was done with 188 Psychological Counselors who have beenworking in the Primary and Secondary Education Schools and Counseling ResearchCenter related to National Education Ministry in Yüreğir and Seyhan Central Districtsof Adana Province in 2005-2006 education year. Psychological Counselors? personalityfeatures were evaluated by ?Hacettepe Personality Inventory? and occupational self-efficacies were evaluated by ?School Counselors Self-Efficacy Scale?.The datums that are taken were analized by using SPSS 11.5 StatisticProgramme. In this analyses, pearson pruduct moment corelation, one way Anova and ttest were used. While the results are interpreted, 0.05 was accepted as a significantlevel.In addition, the findings shows that the Psychological Counselors? personalityfeatures points are high and there is low significant relation between the personalityfeatures and counselors self-efficacy. As to sex, it is determined that there is asignificant difference on the dimention of emotional determination, PsychologicalxCounselors? personality features are in favor of male counselors, but on the dimentionof social norm, in favor of female counselors. As to graduation level, it is determinedthat there is a significant difference in favor of master graduates on the dimention of selfrealization and emtional determination, however, social relations, social norms, anti-social tendency and counselors self-efficacy there is no difference.As to school level they work, it is found that on the dimention of self realization,social relations, social norms and anti-social tendency there is no significant differencebetween counselors, but for ones working on the Secondary Education there is asignificant difference on the dimention of emotional determination and counselors self-efficacy.As to programme they graduated, it is determined that there is not significantdifference between the counselors? personality features and counselor self-efficacypoints.Key Words: School Psychological Counselor, Personality Features, CounselorSelf Efficacy
