The relationship between school administrators' workaholism tendency and family-friendly school policies

This study has been carried out to determine the realitionship between workaholism tendency and family-friendly school policies according to the school administrators. With this aim firstly, administrators' level of workaholism tendency and their level of family-friendly school policies have been determined. After that, it has been examined if the school administrators' workaholism tendency and its sub-dimensions level and family-friendly school policies and its sub-dimensions level differ significantly in terms of gender, duty, education level, seniority, number of teachers and school level. Correlational relationships between family-friendly school policies which is the dependent variable of the research and workaholism tendency have been revealed. The research data have been collected from the teachers working in public primary, secondary and high school levels in the center and towns of Manisa province during 2021/2022 academic year using Personal Information Form, Workaholism Scale and Family-friendly Policies Scale which has been developed during this research. The universe of the research, which is in relational screening model, consists of 1783 school administrators and the sample consists of 332 school administrators selected by simple random sampling. According to the results of the research, it has been revealed that school administrators' levels of workaholism are moderate; while their levels of family- friendly school policies are too high. The research also revealed that the levels of school administrators towards workaholism differ significantly according to the variables of gender, number of teachers at school and school level while they don't differ significantly according to the variables of duty, education level and seniority. It has been also understood that the school administrators' levels towards family-friendly school policies differ significantly according to the variables of duty, education level, seniority and school level while they don't differ in terms of gender and the number of teachers. Also according to the results of the research, it has found that there is a low and positive relationship between level of workaholism tendency and their level of family-friendly school policies. Based on the results of the research, suggestions such as conducting studies which reveal and reduce the reasons of school administrators' workaholism tendencies and supporting their participation in postgraduate education processes have been made.
