The relationship between organizational trust and organizational climate with the dark personality traits of school administrators

The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is a relationship or not between dark personality traits of administrators in educational institutions organizational trust and organizational climate and whether this relationship is mediated by dark leadership perception of teachers. The lack of a similar study on the variables constituting the subject of the thesis and educational institutions is the main reason for this subject. In the study, the 12 item Dark Triad Scale developed by Jonason and Webster (2010), the 22-item Organizational Trust Scale developed by Güler (2014) and the 23-item School Climate Scale developed by Canlı, Demirtaş and Özer (2018) have been used as data collection tools. In order to measure the demographic characteristics of the participants, the personal information form was used to measure the demographic characteristics of the participant. The target universe of the research is composed of teachers working at different levels of education, including public preschool, elementary school, middle school and high school in Elazığ province in the 2021-2022 academic year. The sample size of the study was calculated as 378 people with a confidence level of 95%. Surveys prepared with a 5-point likert-type scale using the proportional sampling method were sent to employees via the online survey portal due to the COVID process. SPSS 22 statistical program was used in the analysis of the research data. Independent Samples T Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used in statistical analyses, and Tukey Post Hoc tests were used to determine which groups caused the difference. The relevance of the obtained statistical results was accepted as 0.01 and 0.05. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research, teachers' perceptions of dark personality traits showed a significant difference in terms of machiavellianism, narcissism and psychopathy sub-dimensions in the school type variable while a significant difference was found in the Machiavellianism sub-dimension in the marital status variable. In the views on organizational trust perceptions, a significant difference was observed in the manager trust sub-dimension according to age and school type variables. When the views on organizational climate were examined, a significant difference was found in the leadership and interaction sub-dimension according to gender variable; leadership and interaction, success and conflict sub-dimensions according to age variable; democratization and deception, leadership and interaction, success, sincerity and conflict sub-dimensions according to school type variable; conflict sub-dimension according to marital status and period of service variables.
