Second and third class primary student?s rightness level in acquiring what is read, readind speed and true reading who have gained the reading skill with sound based sentence structure

In this study, it is aimed to find second and third class primary student?s rightness level in acquiring what is read, readind speed and true reading who have gained the reading skill with sonud based sentence structure. In addition it is brought up if student?s reading skill level change according to gender, parents education level, parents job and whether they work or not.The subject of the research consist of 329 students from three government primary schools in İstanbul / Tuzla in 2007 / 2008 education year.The data releated with problem in the research, that consists of a test has been supplied by a test prepared by researcher which is releated to the level acquiring what is read, an article to supply straightness level in reading, a short passage to find speed level and parents education level, and a form to supply data about working condition.The analyzing the levels in the research, arihmetic average, frequancy and percent methods, to bring up if the reading skill level change according to parents education level anova and independent group t test are used.According to data found in the research; the reading level of second and third class students who have been taught by sound based sentence structure is at the avarage, but their reaing speed and straight reading is under the avarage. Student?s reading skill level doesn?t change according to parent?s education level and income conditions.Key words; Letter method, Acquiring reading, straightness in reading and reading speed.
