The transcripton and evaluation of the Army periodical, 1908

Soon after The Second Constituonal Governance had proclaimed in The Ottoman Empire, The Army periodical, that entered into the press World in Edirne province, was started to be published at that the most critical time of the state. The insufficiency in the military field that the state had been suffering for centuries led senior captain İbrahim Zihni and distinguished captain Hüseyin Hüsnü who were the founders of the Army periodical to enter the press life. The periodical aimed to inform its readers on professional issues. Translations from the military related books and articals published in other countries were utilized. It was published weekly. The periodical did not intend to motivate people politically. It in particular enlightened the military training and the way of performing the profession of that period of time. The Army periodical was the harvest of efforts which could last four mounths of those idealist soldiers. Fourty Three articles were published in sixteen issues. As being a provincial publication it was effective on its own field that was military press and professional environment rather than local people. It has been tanscripted from Ottoman letters to Latin letters, classified and analized.
