Organizational cynism : A case study on bureau workwers in Eskişehir

Abstract (EN)

Aim of this research is to show level of general (personal) cynism and organizational cynism of bureau workers by surveying the literature and elaborating these notion to introduce and make more perceptible. Within the context of this research, relations between demographical and occupational properties of bureau workers and their general and organizational cynism level will be determined. This research is performed in Eskişehir in 2009 by the method of public survey(N=400) which is conducted by people who work at private establishments and public occupations. During the analysis of survey data; frequency table, explanatory statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient in order to analyse relations between two variable, Student-T test for mean difference of two groups, and F test (ANOVA) for mean difference of more than two groups is used.As a result this research, it is seen that personal cynism level of bureau workers are generally high (3.75/5), and viewpoint of bureau workers toward organizations is prone to be cynic with medium level. Also , it is shown that relation between personal and organizational cynism is medium and positive. In terms of demographical properties, it is found that there is no any meaningful discrepancy between variables except for age ( such as sex, marital status, education level) with personal and organizational cynism. As far as professional properties concerned, as service life increases, level of organizational cynism falls. In respect to working status, it is seen that contract personnel of a company or cooperation and bureau workers whose duty is secretaryship have high level of personal and organizational cynisim .Keywords: Organization, cynism, organizational cynicism.
