Origami etkinliklerinin okul öncesi öğrencilerinin uzamsal görselleştirme ve zihinsel çevirme becerilerine etkisinin incelenmesi

In this research, the effects of origami activities on pre-school student's spatial visualization and mental rotation abilities are searched. In the research, the experimental model group which is called as the first test and the last test with control group is used. The research was conducted in 2015-2016 academic year first period with kindergarten B and D classes students at 23 Nisan Primary School which is located in the city centre of Mersin. An experiment and a control group are done for this study. In experimental group, there are 21 students (12 girls, 9 boys); in control group, there are 19 students (8 girls, 11 boys). Mental Paper Folding and Picture Rotation Tests are done as the first and the last tests for the groups. There was a minimum of 21 days between pre-tests and posttests. In 6 weeks, totally 22 origami models are developed or improved with the experimental groups. ANOVA is used while companing the results of the first tests, MANCOVA is used while companing the results of the last tests. According to the results, origami is effective in improving the ability of spatial visualization, but in improving the mental translation abilities, it is useless. The results are compared with the literature works and it presents some proposals.
