Abstract (EN)

The research titled ?Secondary School Students? Perception of Nationalism? has been implemented on 548 young students who continue high school in Zeytinburnu which has been thought to represent the cosmopolitan structure of İstanbul ( population, immigration, education, and urbanization etc.) At the research, the structure of nationalism merit of the youth and , around these facts ,their positions of evaluation the significant issues in the society has been aimed to be propounded.As it is known, the facts of ?nationalism? increase the identity categories with the acceleration that they gain from the globalization and modernism with their features taking into consideration the race and ethnic origin alongside their homogenizing and coalescencing functions in world politics history. Particularly, beginning from 1990s political, by influencing the country geographies with this transformation speed; social, and financial fluctuations bring together speculations in the problematic side more than potentials of bearing affluence and worth of the different identities.One one side, with universal human rights that gradually begin to prevail in the Earth and Turkey, endowed with maturity of existing in the same political organizations and democratic participations of the individuals `who possess different identities, different religious/ philosophical beliefs, different cultures? come together. This means that unitary policies and means of nationalization should be discussed.Turkey?s own inner dynamics appreciate coalescing not as homogenization but appreciate the self- integration alternative as existence reason.The rise of ethnic movements can be considered around these bounds.At the consequence of the research, it has come out that the youth display heterogeneous dispersions on the subjects of Turkishness, Ethnicity, Citizenship, Islamism, State Control, Belonging, and European Union and has presented various differences according to level of grade, sex and grade type.Key Words: Youth, Nationalism, Ethnic, Belonging, Religion, European Union, Perception, State
