The Investigations about results of discipline punishment in the high schools

The purpose of this study is, to find out the emotional behavior results of the punished students who are in committee of discipline member's. This study, in the teaching period of 2000-2001 has been performed in 22 high schools between 217 students, 67 principal and 64 committee of discipline member's which are located in Adana's provinces namely Seyhan and Yüreğir. İn the line of research purposes the interwiew sheets have been prepared for students, as well as for the teachers and for the committee of discipline members. Later these interwiew sheets have been collected and evaluated. The questions in this interwiew forms are prepared in paralel format and also for preparation, the school's decisive resolution books are examined. In the period analysis of data, first of all for every question the answers of students, principals and the members of discipine comhtee are analysed to measure frequency and percentage of them. More than one alternative anwers which are given by those three group are evaluted separetely, percentage wise an the frequency point of wiew. Later the results are listed and eveluated according to Spearman Rank-Order Correlation and the wiews among three group are inspected whether they have any correlation between them. At the end, it has been found that which is the the most reproach punishment applied in high schools. viiiIt has been seen that in high school, the students who are in the third grade are the most subjected group to punishments. Especially the male student's percentage of punishment was found higher than die girls. The survey has been made among the students who are punished showed that, the punished ones had a living a standarts below normal and showed an average succes radio. The punishments, in general are given to students who are quarrel with then- friends all the time. Nevertheless while they don't exept the punishment, the principals and the members of the punishment comittee justified the punishments. About feelings coming after punishment, the groups stated their ideas and it was seen that there were not much difference in between. The most active feelings were regret, worry, confusion and anger-irritation. The methods of taken punishment reasons depend on disciplinary regulations which are not explained very well to the students phis the bad relations between friends. Punishments are playing active role in finding out student's wrong behaviors. Instead of giving punishment, can some other methods applied or not the question among the discipinary institution on of boards. The three group of active in the school principal agreed on that the best way to consult with guidance counselor (Psychological counselor).
