The relation between work family conflict and work engagement of secondary school teachers (The sample of Bolu province)

The aim of this research is to determine the teachers' levels of work family conflict and work engagement; to reveal the relationship between work family conflict and work engagement. The research model is the relational screening model and conducted in quantitative research method. The research sample consists of 455 teachers selected by simple random sampling method among 683 teachers who have been working in official secondary schools located in Bolu City Center in 2020-2021 academic year. Personal information form, Work Family Conflict Scale, Engaged Teacher Scale were used to collect research data. It was found that the research data showed a normal distribution, and parametric tests were used in the analysis of the data. The study was carried out online because of Covid-19 pandemic. According to research results; teachers' level of work family conflict is low and work family conflict is experienced more than family work conflict. Teachers level of work engagement is high. The research concludes that in teachers' levels of work family conflict and work engagement there is significant difference according to gender, age, professional seniority, branch, education level, weekly course hourse, marital status, duration of marriage, number of children and spouse employement. The research also shows that there is a moderate, negative and significant relationship between teachers' levels of work family conflict and work engagement.
