Education history of Osmaniye (1923-1970)

The purpose of this research was to be conducted in the field of education in the Osmaniye province between 1923-1970, To evaluate the contribution of these studies to the Osmaniye province and to the history of Turkish education. In this research, the document analysis and the interview, are used in qualitative research methods, written works related to the date of the training have been reviewed. In addition, individual interviews have been conducted on the subject of research. With the announcement of the Republic, the foundations of contemporary education have been laid in our country, and it was determined that between years 1923-1950, male and female students were educated in three primary schools and a secondary school in the center of Osmaniye. Especially since 1950, secondary education institutions have been opened; the number of female students increased; It has been observed that a wide variety of courses are given in schools. Schools have played an important role in preparing students for both academic and social life. By 1970, there were eleven primary schools, one secondary school and four high schools in the center of Osmaniye. In addition, Düziçi Village Institute, which was opened to meet the need for teachers, has an important place in the history of Osmaniye education. The courses opened in community centers and public education centers within the scope of non-formal education also played an important role in the development of the local people. This study, which deals with the history of education in Osmaniye province, will shed light on the work to be carried out on the date of education; It is thought to contribute to the correct interpretation and evaluation of the history of Osmaniye. Researching and transferring the educational activities carried out in line with Atatürk's principles and reforms in the Republican era will guide future generations and will be a source for innovations in the field of education.
