Abstract (EN)
Tourism has a labor-intensive sector and a people-oriented workplace environment. Human resources management is significant for hotel management which has a large denominator in tourism employment. The traditional approach in HR management has begun to change with the digitalizing world. New generations into the workplace are the main reason for this change. Gen Z's workplace expectations and personality traits are very different from the previous generations. Gamified HR approach which is an innovative strategy for solving business problems, can place the right person into the right job following matching personality traits and player types. This research aims to determine the gamification player types and five-factor personality types of Gen Z, who is present, potential employees for the hotel management, and find the relationship between them. 280 data were collected from students of the Faculty of Tourism in Mugla University, who were selected by convenience sampling method, as the research universe. Dominant player and personality types were determined by the average and percentage values of the data collected by the online survey method. Correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between player types and personality types. Disruptor player type in gamification and conscientiousness personality type is dominant in five factors. A low-level negative relationship was found between the hexad gamification and five-factor personality types. As a result, the relationships between gamification and five-factor personality types of the new Gen Z, who live between real life and the game world, are not very strong. Individually, different levels of dominance are seen in each personality type. It is understood that Gen Z will show different personality traits when approached with the game. Disruptor is not a negative action, on the contrary, it is an action for the better for Gen Z, who accepts real life as a game. Player type should be considered in gamification application designs to be developed for HR in hotel management.
