The comparison of correlation between burnout level and role conflict perception of the administrators who work in special education for the handicapped and in rehabilitation centre

This research is a descriptive study to compare the relationship between burnout level and role conflict perception of the administrators working in special education for the handicapped and in rehabilitation centre.The research is done on the administrators who work in special education for the handicapped and in rehabilitation centre in the cities of Aegean Region; Afyon, Aydın, Denizli, İzmir, Kütahya, Manisa, Muğla, Uşak. The working group of the research consists of 112 administrators who worked in the cities of Aegean Region in 2010.In the research Maslach Burnout Scale and Minnesota Role Conflict and Role Ambiguity Scale are used in order to collect data. Reliability and validity of the scales are checked in many studies. The findings indicate that reliability and validity of the scale is applicable.According to correlation, the more insensitive the administrators become, the more their emotional burnout is. It is concluded that as low personal achievement feeling of administrator increases, the emotional burnout and the insensitivity do not increase. When it is evaluated according to their total burnout scores, both the emotional burnout and the insensitivity increase at the same rate with total burnout level.As the administrators are experiencing role conflict, it has been seen that they have reached the emotional burnout level. While the administrators have role conflict, they not only experience emotional burnout but get more insensitive as well. The administrators do not have low personal achievement feelings when they experience role conflicts.Key Words: Special Education Schools and Institutions, Special Education, Individual Needing Special Education, Rehabilitation, Burnout, Role Conflict.
