Occupational health and safety at private security services

By the time that law no: 6331 Occupational Health & Safety Law goes in effect, developing prevention policies has been targeted to all works and public and private companies, to employers and representative of employers, including apprentices and interns, regardless of looking their subject of activity. For this purpose, 39 regulations has been published and gone in effect. Institutes and Organizations, workers apprentices and interns that mentioned has been considered as target groups. Within the scope of developing prevention policies; Health & Safety trainings (on the job training, vocational training), risk assessments, emergency case plans, assignment of workers representatives and support members, forming Health & Safety committee etc. has been added to agendas. Private security services is one of the scopes considered as 'Hazardous' according to the Occupational Health & Safety Work Hazard Classes Notification. Therefore, a survey has been conducted to private security service workers at courthouse, shopping center, airport and university, to assess workers awareness about occupational health and safety. Then this survey results has been assessed. Within the scope of this study; about occupational health and safety, practices on private security services and information of private security workers has been assessed, Access rate to the information about occupational health and safety has been investigated. The survey has 17 demographic questions and 35 questions about Occupational Health& Safety. Survey has been assessed on 425 private security personnel. As general conclusion, it has been observed that, all private security personnel is aware of 'Occupational Health and Safety Law – Law No: 6331', all trainings (on the job training, Occupational Health and Safety training) that has been conducted by Occupational Safety Specialist and Occupational Physician of their workplaces are enough for vocational purposes, all personnel are aware of occupational diseases and incidents that they may face due to their job.
