Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study to determine the effects of various variables on the extent of the amateur violin students? reaching basic educational goals. The study bears both descriptive and experimental features. It has been determined through the review of related literature that amateur education is an important area in music education. The study was conducted with students receiving amateur violin education at a private music course in Ankara to describe amateur violin education. In the study, the extent of the students? reaching the basic educational goals was analyzed in terms of age, gender and process variables. The specialists were asked for their opinions about the teaching, which was a part of the study, and the data collection processes; and a two-semester teaching program and cognitive and psychomotor tests to be administired at the semester endings were prepared. The data collected through the tests was analyzed through SPSS program. The results show that age and gender variables make no statistically significant difference. Yet, process variable makes statistically significant difference. According to the results, it can be asserted that beginning age of violin education does not make statistically significant difference for an eight-month teaching process, that gender variable does not make statistically significant difference, and that process variable makes statistically significant difference. As a result, in amateur violin education, age and gender are not important factors, but process is an important factor. In amateur violin education, these variables need to be evaluated with theses results, and to be guided accordingly. It is also suggested that it can be beneficial to conduct these kind of studies with different sample groups and different musical instruments.Key Words: Music education, amateur music education, amateur violin education, ages, gender, process.
