The case of solidarity on social media after Özgecan Aslan murder

In the 21st century, which is called as communication age, technology and internet have added great impetus to development. These developments have greatly influenced, developed and transformed the individual and the society. Developments have changed the way in which the individual communicates, his life and social attitude. He has transformed the world into a smaller structure, and has also brought innovations in terms of social events. Today, as the forms of communication continue to evolve in line with the opportunities presented, the ways in which individuals participate in social events and the ways in which they react are also changing. Social media is among the indispensable people in these days when social media is experiencing the golden age. People who have lived in social media are participating and reacting to social events here. Women, one of the basic building blocks of society, are sometimes exposed to unfulfilling behaviors and sometimes violence. These negativities are taking place in social media and reactions are given through this medium. This study is composed of theoretical and practical parts and aims to reveal the possibility of solidarity in social media after the murder of Özgecan Aslan. A mixed method was used in the study. An online questionnaire was applied to 500 people using Facebook and the Facebook account opened for Özgecan Aslan was examined by content analysis technique.
